I joined anytime fitness with a 1 year membership. I paid in full due to the discount that was offered.
I went to the center twice, unable to use the equipment due to either it not working properly, or creating a lot of (what sounded like) unsafe noise. I have called 4 times to cancel, without success. I called their financial group and I am not even in the system as a member. The facility is #2313 in Gainesville, Florida.
The owner, George, hung up on me twice while I was trying to explain to him the lack of communication, entering me into their financial system, and not returning messages I had left with 2 employees (one being the owners son and the other a nice lady) and on their machine. The information I was given states that they can charge a 3 month penalty fee for cancellation. The owner stated he is going to charge me for the full year because I said he was behaving like a child. I stated this due to George arguing with me over what his son did or didn't do and hanging up on me twice during our conversation.
I have contacted ABC Financial services for further investigation. As far as they are concerned, my information was never entered into their financial system.
This information was given to their management for review. I have also written an email cc'd to my lawyer, to request cancellation of my account and a refund of charges.
